Clerkin Elevation Takes its First Omme Lift

Access rental specialist Clerkin Elevation has invested in its first tracked boom from Omme Lift.

Clerkin has purchased the Ommelift 4200 RBDJ lightweight hybrid crawler mounted boom lift, which provides up to 42m of working height and outreach of up to 15.2m. Based in Rostrevor, County Down, the company has previously only had Teupen tracked booms in its fleet.

Joe Clerkin of Clerkin Elevation said: “We looked at several equivalent models and felt that the Ommelift had the best combination of quality, easy operation and low ground pressure. At less than seven tonnes it was far lighter than some of the other machines in this bracket.”

The true hybrid diesel/battery drive train ensures that the Ommelift 4200 RBDJ is equally suited to outdoor and indoor environments. The 400Ah battery pack – which is automatically recharged whenever the diesel engine is deployed – completely eliminates the well-known ‘voltage drop’ issue that can impede the operation of mains-powered machines. The boom can be raised and extended simultaneously, helping to reach the required height in the shortest possible time.

Clerkin purchased the Ommelift 4200, painted in its silver corporate livery, from Access Platform Sales (APS). The machine’s first job was a telecommunications maintenance contract. It has also completed inspection and maintenance work at Semple Stadium in Thurles.

Joe added: “Feedback so far is that it is a very solid, reliable machine that is easy to operate. We are also impressed with how it runs so well off the battery.”

Weighing just 6,805kg and offering the ability to set up on inclines of up to 27%, the Ommelift 4200 RBDJ telescopic boom can work comfortably outdoors in many areas unsuitable for conventional big booms. Compact dimensions also enable access into confined spaces, with a stowed height of less than 2.00m and length of 8.90m – plus the basket is easily detachable, delivering an even more compact travel length of 8.30m. The width of 1.75m, which provides stable travelling on slopes, can be hydraulically retracted to only 1.35m for narrow paths, corridors and doorways.

The Ommelift 4200 joins Clerkin Elevation’s growing fleet of tracked and truck mounted booms, which cover working heights of up to 72m. The company provides experienced, IPAF and CSR-qualified operators, as well as offering self-drive hire.
