Safety gets longer, lighter smaller

Fall protection specialists, Capital Safety, has launched new product lines to its Protecta Rebel range. The all-in-one web and self-retracting lifeline is suitable for construction and general maintenance applications.

The Protecta Rebel range builds includes features of previous models, including the AD111 web self-retracting lifeline and introduces a number of additional design features, each of which is underpinned by the philosophy of ‘longer, lighter, smaller’. Capital Safety says, “The overall impact is unrivalled performance in terms of functionality, convenience and safety, as supported by its CE EN360:2002 safety standard certification.”

The range has a twist-lock zinc-plated top connector carabiner with a gate strength of 16kN, which represents a significant improvement on the AD111’s 1kN, offering greater security than ever before. The 18mm opening makes it compatible with a range of anchor points to keep users firmly rooted to their location of choice. An improved top swivel design reduces lifeline twisting. The web version, available in 3.3 and 6m options, is made from high-strength polyester web for additional durability and longevity. The new range of products also includes an option for a 4.5m cable (with 5mm galvanised cable) SRL, both this and the 6m option are fully-serviceable and can be easily repaired, when required.

The nylon housing is significantly lighter than previous models, but it offers the same high level of protection. Meanwhile, the heat-shrunk clear PVC coating on the shock pack ensures greater durability and that labels remain easy to read.

Available in three lengths and with a variety of anchor solutions, the Protecta Rebel range caters for a diverse range of requirements, giving users the freedom to choose the option that works best for them. With a maximum capacity of 140kg, it is suitable for the safety requirements of users of all most sizes and weights.

Eric Dupont of Capital Safety said, “We are committed to ensuring the safety of the people who use our products and will go to painstaking lengths to develop our existing product ranges to ensure they are safer and more user-friendly than ever before. We take our responsibility very seriously and that is why our products are renowned for their world-class quality, which is down to the superior materials we use and exceptional workmanship. The Rebel range has been a resounding success to date and we expect the latest models will be even more popular than its predecessors.”
