Big Award for Jungheinrich Compact Forklift

The Jungheinrich ERC 216zi high-lift truck will receive the world-renowned iF Design Award this year, in the category automobiles/vehicles.

Thanks to its integrated lithium-ion battery, the vehicle is the most compact forklift in its class.  Jungheinrich has significantly shortened the vehicle by eliminating the battery trough that used to be the norm between industrial trucks and the mast. With a L2 dimension of 1245 mm, the ERC 216zi is at least 170 mm shorter than comparison vehicles and is by far the most compact electric pallet truck on the market, allowing more performance in tight aisles.

Hamburg based sales director Christian Erlach said: “Sometimes you have to completely rethink things and with the ERC 216zi Jungheinrich has shown how to do it. The integration of the lithium-ion battery enables a revolutionary vehicle design. This makes the ERC 216zi extremely compact and extremely flexible. It not only looks good, it also makes it the perfect vehicle when the warehouse is tight and our customers still want to go high. ”

Jungheinrich paid particular attention to the ergonomics of the vehicle when developing the ERC 216zi. A fixed standing platform offers the driver support and comfort. This is an important advantage for the driver, especially during longer periods of use. The controls are arranged to allow intuitive control of the vehicle. The completely revised smartPILOT, electric drawbar steering enables precise and easy steering with one hand. A 4-inch display flush with the instrument hood ensures clarity. The new storage system also enables the operator to set up his work station individually. The new ERC 216zi also sets standards in terms of safety. The overhead guard according to DIN ISO 6055 protects against falling objects.
