SIA Names Tim Whiteman of IPAF to Its Board

Signaling increased cooperation between IPAF/AWPT and the Scaffold Industry Association, Tim Whiteman, managing director of the International Powered Access Federation, was recently elected to SIA's Board of Directors.

Last year SIA and IPAF/AWPT reached an agreement designed to help improve safety in the lift and access industry through better and more consistent training. Under the Agreement, SIA recognizes and promotes the PAL Card (Powered Access Licensed-Registration Card) issued by Aerial Work Platform Training, Inc., a subsidiary of IPAF, as proof of training in the use of aerial work platforms and mast climbing work platforms. For its part, AWPT offers preferred rates and terms to SIA members wishing to operate as approved training centers.

Said John R. Miller, President of the SIA, “Mr. Whiteman's election to our Board of Directors, along with our recent partnership with AWPT/IPAF, continues the SIA advance into the International access arena. His unique International experience and commitment to the safety of workers at height will be highly beneficial as we expand the training and educational offerings available to our members”.

“I am honored to be elected to the SIA Board,” said Whiteman. “I look forward to deepening our partnership with the SIA and making the lift and access industry a safer world.”

In addition to his election to SIA's board, Whiteman was also recently named chairman of the European Rental Association's Statistic Committee. The group is charged with investigating the total size of the European rental market.
