Alberta, Canada Minister to Speak at MCM Crane Conference

Maximum Capacity Media (MCM) is privileged to welcome the Honourable Thomas A. Lukaszuk, Minister Alberta Employment & Immigration, to the Crane & Rigging Conference (CRC) Canada, which will take place Oct. 12-13, 2011, at the Fantasyland Hotel in Edmonton, Alberta. The Alberta minister will sit on a panel on the second afternoon of the event, discussing the possible harmonization of regulations relevant to cranes and rigging with the other three Western provinces, namely British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

"The involvement of someone of the statue of the Honourable Thomas A. Lukaszuk speaks volumes to the importance of the topic of harmonization of Canadian crane regulations," said Guy Ramsey, president, MCM. "We are grateful that he has taken time out of his demanding schedule to take part in our inaugural event."

Items for discussion include applicable parts of the Occupational Health & Safety codes and regulations relevant to cranes and rigging; the apprenticeship programs; and certification for mobile crane operators.

Additionally, the panel will discuss safety training requirements for all overhead lifting equipment. The local delegation will ask provincial OH&S authorities to recognize, support, and utilize recognized national and international safety standards.

CRC Canada will provide opportunities to improve the management of crane operations before, during, and after the lift. Fleet and facilities managers, safety leaders, operators and riggers will participate in sessions to help users apply new regulations; evaluate and safely prepare the work environment; hone inspection skills; manage and maintain equipment; and learn from colleagues and competitors.

The conference will focus on construction, mobile cranes, overhead cranes, hoists and rigging in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba; the area is addressing major growth in the oil, gas, and mining sectors over the next 10 years.

MCM is partnering with All Canadian Training Institute Inc. (ACTi) and KOLO Holdings Inc. to bring this unique event to Canada. For more information, or to register, visit craneandriggingconference.com.
