Demag Process Cranes for Indian Generator and Turbine Manufacturer

Terex Material Handling has supplied Indian generator and turbine manufacturer TD Power Systems with two Demag process cranes that have lifting capacities of 300t and 60t.

Dr Lars Brzoska, vice president and managing director of Terex Material Handling, said: “This order for high-performance crane installations, which are planned and produced by our specialist teams in India, are a confirmation of our sustained growth strategy.”

He added: “Thanks to our investments in the expansion of our production structures in India, we have no difficulty in serving the growing demand there for crane systems with enhanced performance features.”

TD Power Systems, one of the leading manufacturers of AC generators, has extended its production in Bangalore in the south of India. With the aim of producing larger and heavier generators, a second plant has been built with greater crane capacities. The handling of bulky components, for example, stators and casings, as well as the transport of the completely assembled generators is handled by a Demag ZKKW double-girder overhead travelling crane.

This crane, which has a span of 32m, is fitted with a winch unit with a lifting capacity of 300t. It travels on a 120m crane runway which was also part of the order. A second crane hoist with faster lifting and lowering speeds supports the personnel in the precise assembly of components weighing up to 10t.

A second Demag process crane, which has a lifting capacity of 60t and a 10t auxiliary hoist unit, was installed in the new plant at the same time.

Manojit Acharya, executive director of Terex Material Handling India, said: “With the local engineering supplied by our Indian engineers, we offer technology based on extensive international experience and proven high standards.”
