Konecranes Gets Repeat Order from Vancouver Port

In December 2015, Konecranes received another order for six rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes from GCT Canada Limited Partnership for its GCT Deltaport facility located in Port Metro Vancouver, Canada. The cranes will be delivered fully-erect in the winter of 2017. When these cranes are commissioned and working, GCT Deltaport will operate a fleet of 12 Konecranes RTGs.

The CSA-approved, hydraulics-free Konecranes RTGs in this repeat order are identical to the RTGs in the first order: 16-wheel machines with a lifting capacity of 40 LT, lifting one-over-five high and seven-plus-truck lane wide. They will be equipped with a Tier 4 Final diesel genset and Konecranes’ Diesel Fuel Saver technology. The RTGs will also be equipped with Konecranes’ Active Load Control system, which eliminates container sway to increase container handling performance.

Each Konecranes RTG will have a Crane Management System (CMS) that will be linked with a Remote CMS system in GCT Deltaport’s central maintenance building. This will allow simultaneous monitoring of all the cranes with implications for improving maintenance. Additional hardware will be installed in the cranes to enable communication between the cranes and GCT Deltaport’s Terminal Operating System (TOS).
