Maximum Capacity Media Hosts First-Ever Telehandler Showcase

Maximum Capacity Media, Fort Dodge, Iowa, held its inaugural Lift and Access Telehandler Showcase from October 9 to 11 in Phoenix, Ariz. With 10,000- to 11,000-pound capacity telehandlers from nearly every major North American telehandler producer on-hand, the event proved successful and informative for all.

“Having done a dozen events or more in the past, this was the biggest and best yet,” said Guy Ramsey, president and publisher. “It was a good opportunity for all the major manufacturers and the vast of majority of the component suppliers in the industry to have an opportunity to share ideas and discuss for everyone's benefit the future of the industry.”

Brands of machines at the Telehandler Showcase included CareLift, Gehl, Genie, Gradall, Ingersoll Rand, JLG, Lull, Manitou, Mustang, Pettibone, SkyTrak, and Xtreme. A representative from JCB also was present. Sponsors of the event included self-lubricating bearings supplier Polygon Co., engine suppliers Power Great Lakes/PS and John Deere Power Systems, and flatproofing tire fill producer Urethane International. Fraco supplied a mast-climbing work platform for the operator event.

In addition to presentations made by each of the manufacturers, 19 local operators were brought in evaluate the machines and were surveyed on their impressions of the machines after the event. Door prizes for operators included a Home Depot gift card, hats, gloves, and scale models. The grand prize giveaway during the Operator Event was a 42-inch Samsung plasma television, which was won by Lance Little of Stone Cold Masonry.

The Telehandler Showcase presented an unparalleled opportunity for Lift and Access to learn more about current 10,000- to 11,000-pound capacity telehandlers in the North American marketplace. Findings from the event will be published in at least two feature articles in early 2007 editions of Lift and Access.
