Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Celebrates 20 Years of Manufacturing

Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc. (MCFA) celebrated the company’s 20-year anniversary with employees on June 28 at its headquarters in Houston, Texas.

To honor the occasion, 69 employees who have worked at MCFA for its full 20 years signed a commemorative forklift. The forklift, which also features a special decal signed by all MCFA employees, will be displayed in the company’s headquarters building and will later be used throughout MCFA’s manufacturing operations to move materials in fabrication and assembly.

“At MCFA, we are not only celebrating 20 years of success,” said MCFA President Hiroshi Nagai. “We are celebrating 20 years of serving the needs of our customers and the community. It is because of the commitment, loyalty and strength of MCFA’s employees and dealership network that we are able to celebrate this achievement today.”

MCFA formed on July 1, 1992, when Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) entered into a business relationship with Caterpillar Industrial Inc. (CII) to manufacture and distribute forklifts in the United States, Mexico, Canada and Latin America.

When the company formed, MCFA employed 245 people at its 172,000 sq. ft. facility in Houston. Today, including subsidiaries, MCFA employs more than 950 people, and its facility spans more than 695,000 sq. ft. MCFA’s 20-year anniversary comes less than a year after the company manufactured its 350,000 lift truck in its Houston facility, a feat equivalent to producing enough forklifts to stretch across the state of Texas.

With its commitment to providing quality products and industry-leading customer service, MCFA has become one of the world’s leading manufacturers of forklifts. MCFA remains focused on satisfying customers – for the next 20 years and beyond – by developing products with the changing needs of customers in mind, while continuing to meet the growing demand for cleaner running electric lift trucks.

Over the last 20 years, MCFA and its employees have worked alongside the community by supporting numerous organizations such as the Houston-area United Way, the Houston Food Bank, Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Boy Scouts of America, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and Habitat for Humanity, among others.
