New National Construction Alliance Expected to Form in May

According to a recent edition of Construction Labor Report, the National Construction Alliance (NCA) of basic trade unions is expected to open in May with three affiliates – the Carpenters and Joiners of America, the Laborers' International Union and the International Union of Operating Engineers.

According to the SC&RA newsletter, the National Heavy & Highway Alliance is expected to merge with NCA. Following that merger, the Iron Workers and Bricklayers are expected to pay a fee to NCA for continued participation in the national heavy and highway project agreement. This new alliance is unique because it's solely focused on trades affiliated with construction, unlike the AFL-CIO, which encompasses any kind of organized labor.
