Process cranes for outdoor tube storage area

Demag Cranes supplied three process cranes for a new outdoor storage area at Interfer Rohrunion at the Voerde site, Germany. The three identical Steelmaster cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 12 tonnes, place steel tubes and profiles into storage and transfer them to an adjacent area for further processing.

In the new outdoor store, covering an area of 12,500 square metres, the highly versatile single girder overhead travelling cranes, equipped with magnet spreaders, travel on a 450-metre-long crane runway.

The cranes ensure that both the newly equipped high-performance sawing centre and processing area, and the zones for coating and order picking, are supplied on schedule with the required steel tubes.

The cranes are used on a common runway and have a span of 27.5 metres. They are each equipped with two synchronised hoists with a lifting capacity of 6.5 tonnes and can be used for variable tasks. The hoists are arranged on cantilever crabs and travel sideways along the crane carrier, achieving a considerably larger hook path. Magnet spreaders are used as load handling attachments.
