PSR appoints new production manager

The large UK powered access service and repair provider, PSR,  has expanded its management team, as it gears up for growth.

Ken Cooke joins IAPS Group’s Service Division, PSR (Platform Service & Repair), as production manager. He has responsibility for setting up and running the workshops and product assembly facilities at the Group’s new, larger headquarters in Telford, Shropshire, UK.

He is project managing the installation of 5t and 16t lifting capacity overhead cranes in the workshops, along with four 4t vehicle lifts. He will also set up the assembly area and production processes for mounting Aldercote booms to panel vans, as the company prepares to enter the van-mounted boom market.

Steve Couling, managing director of IAPS Group, which owns PSR, said, “Ken has extensive knowledge of van-mounted boom lifts, along with a great deal of technical expertise and management experience. He will be invaluable in helping to establish our new Aldercote production facilities.”

Cooke joined PSR from energy company Western Power Distribution, where he was workshop controller, managing the maintenance, service, repair and certification of all plant and vehicles at his depot. Prior to WPD, he spent eight years at van-mounted boom lift distributor Versalift, firstly as training manager, then as after-sales and service manager

“I am delighted to be back in the powered access industry, during an exciting time for IAPS Group as it moves into the van mount sector,” said Cooke. “Aldercote has developed a superb product range, so it’s important that, from the outset, we have the high quality processes, people and facilities to match.”

Cooke’s role will also encompass managing the workshop-based PSR engineers at Telford. This team carries out access platform repairs, rebuilds and refurbishments for a wide range of customers.
