R&M Loadmate Lifts 13,000-pound Elephant

R&M Materials Handling, Inc., Springfield, Ohio, supplied North Carolina Zoo Surgery with a Loadmate chain hoist, part of a harness used to lift a 13,000-pound elephant that needed cataract surgery.

C’sar, the North Carolina Zoo’s oldest male elephant at 37, and one of the park’s most well-known animals, recently underwent the successful four-hour surgery in the zoo's elephant barn, carried out by a team of specialists from the N.C. State University College of Veterinary Medicine. C'sar is expected to return to his exhibit once his recovery is complete.
