Rugged Components Characterize JLG Vertical Mast Lifts

Two self-propelled vertical mast lifts in the MVL Series, featuring robust components for heavy-duty use in construction, maintenance and retail applications, were recently introduced by JLG Industries, McConnellsburg, Pa.

The mobile vertical lifts have an extended life gearbox, single joystick drive and steer control, automatic rapid re-charge battery charger, and two sealed 100-amp-hour maintenance-free batteries. The Model 15MVL has a 15-ft, 4-in. platform height and 500-lb platform capacity while the Model 20MVL has a 19-ft, 6-in. platform height and 350-lb platform capacity.

The clutch-free gearbox is the same as those used on JLG's scissor lifts and the new electric drive motor uses four brushes that increase brush life five times, according to the company. A light is illuminated at the control panel, indicating that the drive motor brushes need replacing so the motor is protected from damage. Standard features on the MVL Series include non-marking tires, transportation tie-downs, built-in fork truck pockets, an hour meter, an all motion alarm and a 110-volt double receptacle on the platform.

The machines comply with ANSI, OSHA and CSA requirements and have numerous features including an automatic pothole protection system, a 1.5 tilt alarm and control, a flashing amber beacon and horn. There is also a key lock for the main power switch and an optional programmable 4-digit security lock. Among other options are various platform sizes with gull-wing platform entry, a crane hook, a fluorescent light tube caddy, and an 8-in. by 18-in. tool tray.
