TMEIC to Supply 30 Automatic Stacking Cranes to Shanghai Port

TMEIC Corporation has received an order from Shanghai-based Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company LTD. (ZPMC) to supply electrical control and automation systems for 30 automatic stacking cranes. These ASCs will be supplied to Yangshan  Deepwater Port in Shanghai, China.

As the Shanghai International Port Group develops its first automated terminal environment, Alan Peterson, TMEIC crane systems industry segment leader, said, "TMEIC is excited to play a part in this large and innovative investment in the future of China's transportation infrastructure."

The rail-mounted gantry cranes use TMEIC's TMdrive-10e2 variable frequency drives as part of the MaxSpeed advanced crane control system platform. The cranes feature the MaxView optical guidance systems, and the CraneDirector system, which coordinates the interface with the Terminal Operating System. The crane automation system allows a choice of local autonomous or remote control operation.  A fiber optic network links all crane functions with the central control room and the terminal computer, which generates the container moves and optimizes throughput.
