ATS delivers Verlinde cranes to Internal Security Forces project in Qatar

ATS Cranes, official Verlinde distributor in Qatar, has supplied two motorised 1.25t jib cranes for the maintenance of the drinking water pumping station of the large Internal Security Forces (ISF) camp project at Al Duhail near Doha.

When it launches in 2025, ISF expects to host a population of almost 20,000 residents and employees across 300+ buildings and specialist installations over its 400ha site.

The project will feature rain water reservoirs for drinking and irrigation purposes of a total capacity of some 65,000 cubic metres.

This is the first project in Qatar aimed at obtaining Qatar Sustainability Assessment System (QSAS) certification, whose objective is to promote sustainability in the building industry and to encourage synergy between new forms of development and their environments.

ATS cranes were commissioned for the installation of two EuroStyle type VFM 1.25t jib cranes with an 8m motorised full revolution boom and Eurochain VR electric chain hoists for the maintenance of the drinking water pumping station. The jib cranes will be used for lifting pumps and accessories during maintenance, as well as for loading and unloading material from trucks. The loads to be handled weigh approximately 800 to 900kg.

The jib crane was designed according to client specifications to be suited for operation in a hot and humid outdoor environment and to look sympathetic within its environment. This  was important since the jib cranes are located next to the indoor garden/park and therefore highly visible.

ISF has a history of working with ATS and Verlinde as part of their original pumping substation project in 2016. They have also worked with one of main contractors for the MEP engineering works of the project – AL Jaber, for many years.

Rahul Shetty, managing director of ATS Cranes says, “The jib cranes we have installed are extremely efficient. Tested on site with 1.25 times their safe working load (SWL), they are well designed and appropriate for the needs of ISF, for handling pumping material in the most difficult of exterior environments. Our team has great experience and will ensure after-sales and fast maintenance operations. We aim for excellence and the satisfaction of our customers.”
