Modulift builds spreader beam with 2000t lift capacity

Safe Lifting Europe BV a Dutch rental company specialising in heavy lifting, has taken delivery of a modular spreader beam able to lift a 2000t load, which it commissioned Modulift to design and manufacture.

Known for product innovation, Modulift managed the entire process led by its experienced team of in-house engineers. From full design specification through sourcing materials, to the manufacturing and testing stage .

The MOD 1100/2000t beam is Safe Lifting’s first machine of this capacity and is the latest addition to Modulift’s modular range of spreader beams. Its in-house compression test rig was successfully upgraded and the new beam went through a proof load test. This was witnessed by DNV, an independent third party, which complies with global standards and which awarded it Type Approval.

Giovani Vroegop, technical commercial manager, for Safe Lifting Europe BV said, “It was great to work on a project that was a first for Modulift. Working collaboratively on this project was vital. By combining our expertise with Modulift, we were able to deliver a solution for our customer’s lift. I was impressed with the support they provided – they know the industry well and really understand what we do.”

Harshal Kulkarni, engineering manager for Modulift said, “It was a proud moment for Modulift to design and manufacture MOD 1100/2000 as the largest spreader beam in the current range.  This challenging assignment was successfully completed by the collective effort of the team right throughout the project. Our team is already looking at more such opportunities, including upgrading to 3000t for a new upcoming project.”

The new spreader design is Modulift’s standard pin ended strut design, which is extremely weight and cost efficient. As a result of this project, Modulift will be able to proof load test any spreader beam up to a load of 2000t and a span of 33m for future customers.
